In situ hybridization was performed on paraffin sections of epididymal fat pad from untreated mice (A and C) and mice treated with TGF-β (2 µg) for 3 hr (B and D). Slides were exposed for 8 weeks at 4°C and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. e, endothelial cells; sm, smooth muscle cells; a, adipocytes. Arrowheads indicate positive signal for PAI-1 mRNA in the fat (D). Magnification was ×400 for all sections.
