Correlation between blood mononuclear cell NOS enzyme activity and tender joint count after treatment with anti-TNF-α antibody (cA2). Blood mononuclear cells from RA patients were assayed before and 4 weeks after a single infusion of 5 mg/kg, 10 mg/kg, or 20 mg/kg of cA2, or a placebo. NOS activity (14C-L-arginine conversion to 14C-L-citrulline) was expressed as the percent of baseline value and compared with the number of tender joints also expressed as the percent of baseline value.
