Quantitation of urinary macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) secretion. Western blot analysis demonstrated a marked increase in urinary MIF secretion in oxonic acid plus uric acid (UA) animals; whereas, low or undetectable urinary MIF levels were found in oxonic acid (OA) and normal control (NC) animals. Urine samples were collected at day 35, after induction of disease. Each bar represents one animal for groups of six rats.
