After 2 weeks, in vitro cultures were exposed to control solution, or IFNγ for 7 days. Viability was assessed with MTT conversion to an insoluble purple precipitate shown above. There is a small decrease in the number of viable sensory neurons, which does not reach a statistical significance (controls, 126 ± 16 versus IFNγ, 103 ± 9.7) morphology and neuritic outgrowth from IFNγ treated neurons is indistinguishable from controls.
