Lysozyme suppresses AGE-mediated synthesis of TNFα and IGF-I by macrophages. Macrophage-like T1B-183 cells (1 × 106/well) were incubated with either AGE-BSA (200 µg/ml), BSA (200 µg/ml), or serum-free medium (CL) in the presence or absence of LZ (100 µg/ml), for 48 hrs at 37°C. Conditioned media were tested for TNFa (A) and IGF-I (B) content by immunoassay. Data are expressed as the M ± SD ng/well (1 × 106 cells) of three identical experiments, each done in duplicate. *p < 0.01 vs. AGE, ** p < 0.001 vs. control.
