Structure and hydrolysis of a GPI phospholipid by phospholipases D (PLD) and C (PLC) generating IPG type A and PA, and IPG-l,2-(cyclic phosphate) type A and DAG. Originally it was proposed that the responsible enzyme was a PLC, however, recent studies suggest that PLD is also capable of generating biologically active IPG type A from GPI (24,25).
