Densitometric scans of Northern blot autoradiographs of left, human mammary epithelial normal cell strains, primary, and metastatic tumor cell lines. Right, human prostate epithelial normal-immortalized and metastatic tumor cell lines. Northern blots contained 20 µg of total RNA in each lane and were hybridized to a 32P-labeled full-length stm cDNA probe. For an internal standard, blots were hybridized to a 32P-labeled 36B4 cDNA probe (35). Ratios of STM/36B4 RNA levels are presented. Details on cell lines are given in Materials and Methods.
