Effects of palmitate on apoptotic cell death in microvascular EC. EC were treated with or without 100 µM palmitate in the presence or absence of NAC for 24 hr. Then cells were lysed and the supernatant analyzed by ELISA for DNA fragments. The percentage of absorbance at 405 nm is indicated on the ordinate and related to the value of the control without palmitate or NAC. *p < 0.01 compared to the value of the control of without palmitate or NAC.
