FTS inhibits the cell growth of SW480 and HT-29 cells. Cells were plated at a density of 4 × 103 in a 12-well plate and grown for 7 days in the absence or presence of 100 μM of FTS. From day 2 to day 7, cells were harvested and counted. Assays were performed in triplicate and the data (mean ± SD) are presented as total cell numbers per wells. For SW480 cells (A) the growth inhibition experiment showed on day 2 a 48 ± 10% reduction of cell growth. This growth-arresting influence of FTS continued during the complete treatment period, finally resulting in a 92 ± 12% growth reduction on day 7. Growth inhibition for HT-29 cells (B): 38 ± 10% on day 3 and 85 ± 3% on day 7.
