Expression of HBs and PvMSP119-HBs in COS7 cells. (A) COS7 cells were transfected with different plasmids and lysates (L) and Supernatants (S) were immunoprecipitated with polyclonal anti-HBs (diluted 1:500) or a presaturated human serum positive for P. vivax anti-PvMSP119 (diluted 1: 1000), but negative for anti-HBs. HBs, transfection with pSV33M-*, PvMSP119-HBs + HBs, Cotransfection with pSV33M-* and VXORFPvMSP119-HBs, PvMSP119-HBs, transfection with VXORF-PvMSP119-HBs, mock: transfection with plasmid pVXORF1. (B) Anti-PvMSP1 contained in 5 different human sera recognized the PvMSP119-HBs protein produced in COS7 cells. COS7 cells were transfected with pSV33M-* or VXORF-PvMSP119-HBs, pulse labeled and the supernatants immunoprecipitated with the sera from 5 different patients (dilution of each serum 1: 1000). They were analyzed by SDS-PAGE. As a positive control, supernatants were immunoprecipitated with anti-HBs. HBs, small hepatitis B virus surface protein.
