Unusual morphologies of mitochondria during cold incubation. Cells incubated at 4 °C for 48 h (A–D) showed unusual mitochondrial morphologies such as donut (d in A, C), blob (b in B–D) or lasso structures (L in B, D). The images were documented using fluorescence microscopy (λexc. = 546 ± 6 nm, λem. ≥ 590 nm; A–D).
