Knockdown of BRAP attenuated the LPS atherogenic effect. HASMCs were transfected with either control siRNA or BRAP siRNA 24 h prior to LPS stimulation. (A) The mRNA levels and (B) protein amounts of BRAP were reduced in cells with BRAP knockdown. The secretion of (C) MCP-1 and (D) IL-8 of HASMCs significantly declined in cells with BRAP knockdown. Each experiment was repeated three times and each sample was studied in duplicate. Data were analyzed by pairwise comparison between cells treated with LPS for different periods of time and cells at time zero (Student t test, *P< 0.05, **P< 0.01). Error bars: SD.
