AAT-Fc suppresses hyperglycemia in the STZ-induced mouse model of diabetes. (A) Six-week-old BALBC/6 mice were administered AAT-Fc (2 mg/kg body weight), and then a low dose of STZ (120 mg/kg body weight) was injected twice, on d 1 and 3. The blood glucose level was monitored daily. After the second injection on d 3, the blood glucose level increased significantly. At d 15 and 17, mice that received AAT-Fc had decreased blood glucose levels. (B) At d 10 after the STZ injection, the mice were sacrificed, and the IL-6 level was measured in the liver and pancreas. The mean ± SEM values have been shown (n = 5 per group). *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01.
