Effect of the inhibition of PI 3-kinase (A) and p70S6kinase (B) on activation of GPAT by PIG-P in adipocytes.

Isolated rat adipocytes were treated with increasing concentrations of LY294002 (A) or rapamycin (B) for 5 min prior to incubation (20 min, 37°C) in the absence (basal) or presence of PIG-P (5 µm) or insulin (10 nM) and then assayed for GPAT activity. Each point (dpm-values of the butanol-extracted and TLC-separated radiolabeled lipid products) represents the mean ± SEM of four different cell preparations and incubations, with activity measurements in triplicate.
