From: Immunogenicity of an Eight Amino Acid Domain Shared by Fas (CD95/Apo-I) and HIV-1 gp120. I. Structural and Antigenic Analysis

Fig. 1

Primary structure of Fas and HIV-linear peptides. (A) Primary structure of 26 amino acid stretches from both gp120 V3 loop and Fas sharing the homologous sequence VEINCTR-N detected by serum IgG in 21 out of 439 HIV-1-infected individuals. The adjacent 8-mer peptides were synthesized and numbered as peptides #1 and #2 on each protein to evaluate by ELISA their potential involvement in the molecular target of anti-VEINCTR-N specificities. (B) ELISA correlation of anti-VEINCTR-N activity with that to peptides #1 and #2 from both gp120 and Fas. The only low, though positive, correlation occurred with peptide #1 of Fas; whereas, the reactivities to other peptides were independent of anti-VEINCTR-N positivities. HIV-1IIIB, human immunodeficiency virus-type 1iiib.
