CD39 decreases ATP-induced von Willebrand (vWF) release.

HUVEC were grown to confluency in 24-well plates, left untreated or infected with CD39 or β-galactosidase adenovirus. Confluent cells were incubated with thrombin, ATP, ATPγS, or adenosine (ADO). vWF release was measured in conditioned serum-free medium, taken 60 min after stimulation by ELISA. Overexpression of CD39 limited ATP-induced vWF secretion by approximately 60%. Experiments were performed in triplicate and results are expressed as mean ± SEM.
