Insulin-like effects of L. sativus IPG on PEPCK mRNA expression in H35 hepatoma cells. Serum-starved H35 cells were incubated in the presence of 8-Br-cAMP for 5 hours. Saline (lane 1), insulin (100 nM, lane 2), rIPG (10 µM, lane 3) or IPG (10 µM, lane 4) was added to the medium for the last 2 hours of 8-Br-cAMP treatment. PEPCK mRNA levels were analyzed by Northern blotting. An autoradiogram of a typical Northern blot is shown alongside the ethidium bromide-stained agarose gel from the same experiment. The Northern blot was scanned to allow quantification.
