AGE-R1, -R2, and -R3 mRNA levels in EBV-transfected lymphoblast cell lines from T1D patients with and without DC. Transformed lymphoblasts (1 × 107 per patient) obtained as described in methods section were suspended in RPMI (10% FBS) prior to being subjected to RNA isolation procedure, as described in Fig. 1 (35). AGE-R1 (A), -R2 (B), -R3(C), and β-actin mRNA levels were measured by competitive RT-PCR (35). Data are expressed as the ratio of each AGE-R cDNA/mutant to β-actin cDNA/mutant. *p < .05 as compared to nondiabetic control individuals.
