Cell death induced by β-lapachone is accompanied by mitochondrial cytochrome C release. (A) PC-3 cells were treated with DMSO (lane 1) or β-lapachone at 8 µM for 0.5 hr (lane 2), 2 hr (lane 3), 4 hr (lane 4), and 6 hr (lane 5). (B–F), Cells were treated for 1 hr with DMSO (lane 1) or β-lapachone at 0.5 µM (lane 2), 2 µM (lane 3), 4 µM (lane 4), or 8 µM (lane 5, C and E). Mitochondrial cytochrome C release was determined by Western blot assay as described in Materials and Methods.
