Examples of TTC staining in PARS+/+ and PARS−/− sham control animals and PARS+/+ and PARS−/− animals subjected to IPC after 30 min occlusion of LAD and 24 hr reperfusion. The region stained with blue was the nonischemic portion of left ventricle. The rest portion was the area at risk, which was subjected to 30 min ischemia and 24 hr reperfusion. Within the area at risk, the viable myocytes was stained bright red and the infarcted area was light yellow.
