MIF-specific inhibition reduces colon carcinoma cell proliferation and MIF-dependent catalytic activity. (A) The MIF-specific inhibitor, ISO-1, inhibits CT26 colorectal cell proliferation. Cells were cultured under standard conditions with the inclusion of increasing concentrations of ISO-1 for either 24,48, or 72 h, as indicated. (B) ISO-1 dose-dependently inhibits the bioactivity of MIF in cell lysates as determined by in vitro tautomerase activity. Plots have been normalized to the percentage of vehicle-treated control levels, ± SEM; **P < 0.01.
