Effect on adipogenesis of RSVA314 and RSVA405 treatment during the different phases of adipocyte differentiation. (A) Differentiating 3T3-L1 cells were treated with resveratrol (RSV; 40 μmol/L), RSVA314 (1 μmol/L), RSVA405 (1 μmol/L) or vehicle (DMSO; CTRL) during the different phases of adipocyte differentiation (see arrows; day 0–2, day 2–4 or day 4–8). Cells were stained with Oil Red O on day 8 and photographed. (B) Lipid content was quantified in cells treated as in A with 40 μmol/L RSV or with the indicated concentrations of RSVA314 or RSVA405. Undifferentiated 3T3-L1 cells on day 0 were used as control (undifferentiated). Results are shown as means ± SD of three independent experiments. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.001 (Student t test).
