Analysis of cell proliferation and extracellular matrix synthesis in rAAV-transduced human articular chondrocytes in monolayer and alginate cultures. Primary human normal and OA chondrocytes were transduced with either rAAV-lacZ or rAAV-hIGF-I, as described in Figure 1, and cell encapsulation was performed where indicated, as also denoted in Figure 1. Monolayer cultures were processed for the evaluations on d 20 after transduction and alginate cultures on d 26.
