IRAK-M−/− mice demonstrate reduced bacterial growth and dissemination during Klebsiella pneumonia. WT (closed symbols) and IRAK-M-deficient (IRAK-M−/−) (open symbols) mice were infected intranasally with 1 × 104 CFU K. pneumoniae and euthanized at 3, 6, 24 and 48 h after induction of pneumonia. Bacterial loads in lung (A), blood (B), spleen (C) and liver (D) were determined. Data are expressed as mean ± SEM; n = 7–9/group; *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01 and ***P < 0.001 as compared with WT mice.
