Induction of the inflammatory response by extracellular HSP27 requires both TLR2 and TLR4. MCVECs from TLR2 KO, TLR4-defective (C3H/HeJ) and WT mice are treated with 4.0 µg/mL HSP27. (A, B) Either TLR2 KO or TLR4 mutation reduces MCP-1 secretion induced by extracellular HSP27. (C, D) ICAM-1 expression induced by extracellular HSP27 is reduced by TLR2 KO and TLR4 mutation.
