(A) MRPs inhibition prevents ANF-induced reduction of plasma amylase in the presence or absence of secretin in acute pancreatitis. Animals were infused with secretin alone or with ANF, acute pancreatitis was induced by repetitive cerulein injections and amylase was measured in plasma as detailed in Materials and Methods. White bar: cerulein alone. *p < 0.05 versus cerulein; #p < 0.05 versus secretin. Number of experiments: 6. The dotted line represents plasma amylase average value in normal rats. (B) MRP inhibition prevents ANF-induced reduction of zymogen activation in the presence or absence of secretin in acute pancreatitis. Trypsin activity was fluorometrically assessed in pancreas from animals with acute pancreatitis infused with secretin alone or with ANF, as detailed in Materials and Methods. White bar: cerulein alone. **p < 0.01 and ***p < 0.001 versus control; p < 0.05 versus cerulein; #p < 0.05 versus secretin. Results are expressed as percentage of control. Number of experiments: 5.
