Expansion of Th9 cells in MRL/lpr mice. (A) Splenocytes were isolated from MRL/lpr and B6 mice and stained with anti-CD4 and anti-IL-9 antibodies. CD4+IL-9+ cells and CD4−IL-9+ cells were analyzed by flow cytometry. (B,C) Percentages of IL-9+ cells among the CD4+ and CD4− cell populations in B6 mice and MRL/lpr mice (n = 6 animal/group) were determined. (D) Serum IL-9 levels in B6 and MRL/lpr mice were analyzed by ELISA (n = 6 animals/group). (E) Serum levels of IL-9 and anti-dsDNA antibody were positively correlated in MRL/lpr mice (n = 6).
