Plasma levels of potential inflammatory (IL-6 and TNF-α) and mitochondrial (free mtDNA, FGF-21 and CoQ) biomarkers in plasma of sIBM patients. Values are expressed as percentage of increase or decrease with respect to healthy controls. No statistically significant differences were found between sIBM patients and controls. However, increased levels of these molecules in sIBM (especially IL-6, TNF-α and FGF-21) suggest evidence of their implication in the pathogenesis of sIBM.
